JR Winter Camp

Join us for a winter camp in Jacksonville, FL with Quaker Camp Director Mike Lane! The camp is hosted by the JU Dolphin Rowing Camp!

General Info

The JU Dolphin Junior Winter Camp is a 3-day technique program designed for both coxswains and rowers (ages 13-18) looking to significantly improve their rowing ability. Attendance is limited to 36 rowers and 5 coxswain, and instruction and coaching will be geared to the experience level and talents of each athlete. Although the camp is designed for athletes with some experience it is open to all and we will provide adequate coaching for all experience levels. The winter camp includes technical overview both on the erg and on the water.

Saturday will begin with video review as well as the introduction to the days focus. Each rowing session throughout the camp will have a different focus building throughout the camp. Work on the erg will help determine lineups for the initial row. The camp will include mental strategies on the erg, skill instruction on the water, video analysis and an introduction to athletics facilities, as well as a focus on racing strategies.

In addition to the work on the water (weather permitting) we will introduce different topics in a daily lecture. These topics include nutrition, rowing in college, the recruiting process, injury prevention, as well as a brief introduction to our weight room.
